Down the Valley

Posted on December 24, 2017

The Down the Valley exhibit is up! My photographs of Appalachian folk artists and musicians are showcased alongside traditional hand-crafts made by local practitioners. The show will be on display at Lincoln Memorial University’s Art Center in Cumberland Gap, TN June-August 2017. An opening reception will take place on Saturday, June 3 from 6-8pm, with a not-to-be-missed musical performance from Vic Graves at 7pm.

I’m also proud to have included the artwork of my students at LMU. Using grant funds from the NEA, I created a series of apprenticeships between college students and local folk artists. The work of these students and their mentors are on display together in Down the Valley.

And what happens when the vinyl doesn’t arrive on time? You paint an old piece of barnwood, of course!
